The Model
I am
pleased to finally present you with the second of the two originally planned
Bugatti T54-Models. After having built Bugatti´s blue street version from 1995
until the year 2005, I decided in 2010 to build the red version, the TIGER TWO
driven by Kaye Don in Brooklands in 1933, as well. This model is built from
scratch just like the street version, and possesses all the differences in the
details that I managed to research using historical texts. I extend my thanks
to the firm "Galvano-Dörre" from Lünen for doing a great job in
plating many pieces professionally in nickel, silver and gold, and for taking
time out of their busy production schedule for my little pieces.
It was originally planned that this racing version was to be
built by my dear friend K.H. Hornberg. Since he has been specializing in
building and producing slotcar models in the scale1/24 (in my opinion the
finest ones worldwide!), he simply didn´t have enough time to finish the model
he had already started... and since I see my version of the Bugatti every day
on display in a showcase of my livingroom, I simply had to take on the
challenge to finish the racing version, too. In April 2012 I was finally able
to move the finished red TIGER TWO into a showcase next to the blue one.., and
can´t help but have a rush go through my body whenever I see these two cars
there...
Even though it was hard, I destroyed all the casting forms so these two beauties remain the one of a kind models we wanted them to be.
